Background Information
Mackinzie is an Iowa native, raised in Ames, Iowa. She graduated from Ames High School in 2016 before attending the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa. Mackinzie graduated from the University of Iowa in 2020, with a B.A. in Ethics and Public Policy and a certificate in sustainability. Mackinzie earned her J.D. from Drake University Law School in 2024.
While at Drake, Mackinzie was a member of Drake Law Women, Delta Theta Phi, and served as a student attorney in Drake Entrepreneurial and Transactional clinic where she counseled business owners as part of the Governor’s Empower Rural Iowa Initiative. She was also a member of the Drake Journal of Agricultural Law, holding the position of Note Editor. Her note, Hemp: The Gateway to Federal Legalization of Marijuana, selected for publication.
